Initially MovePlan were appointed to undertake all space planning for Etihad Airways' (the national airline of the United Arab Emirates)ew Headquarters in Khalifa City A in Abu Dhabi.  Subsequently, we were also appointed to manage the move of 1,000 staff from 15 sites (both land and airside) to the two new buildings in new Head Office campus.

 

The first task of the move element of the project was to develop a detailed contracted move schedule of a logistically complex programme requiring the matching of moves with availability of floors in the head office, as well as the operational requirements of the business.  Relocation of the Network Operations Centre (the hub of any airline) was carefully scheduled to take place after advance moves and detailed testing and staggered over the various shifts.  Throughout the project MovePlan amended floor plans, planned and executed moves, managed the delivery and installation of furniture, as well as obtaining quotations and managing costs for same.

 

Key to the success of the project was the flexibility and experience of the MovePlan team, which allowed them to adapt the MovePlan Toolkit© to the demands of the fast track programme in a constantly changing environment.  The ability of our team to adapt to the requirements of living away from home for a long period of time in temperatures laterally reaching 45oC, diplomatically progressing the project in an environment that was culturally very different to our own, respecting the local traditions as well working with many different nationalities and still reacting speedily to a new and challenging working environment ensured the delivery of a seamless relocation to the great satisfaction of the client.
