Since 2005 MovePlan has had a move management service contract for a large pharmaceutical research and development company across the US.

With staff across several geographically disparate sites in the US, MovePlan seamlessly execute a continuous, challenging and complex move schedule.  This involves a varied combination of offices, laboratories and specialist equipment. MovePlan’s efficiency, flexibility and reliability has resulted in the provision of a number of added value, subsidiary services for the Client.

 

MovePlan complement their relocation management with furniture installation, space planning, database management, signage and centrally updating the CAFM system.  High volume, high value asset transfers across sites and continents are not unusual challenges for the MovePlan team. Often relocating irreplaceable samples and research items, MovePlan’s skills at co-ordinating numerous parties in a time pressured, sensitive and highly secure environment are unrivalled.

 

The key factor common to all the client’s sites, is the requirement to undertake relocations within the framework of a refurbishment schedule.  Furniture is often reallocated and re-used, requiring staff to often occupy a succession of different locations, prior to being moved into their final position.  Clarity of communication to all vendors, interested parties and staff is paramount when delivering minimum disruption to operations.

 

Such open communication is also vital in the planning stages, when scheduling vendors and relocation activity. As the project involves the movement of a large volume of equipment, MovePlan: 

• Identifies, assesses and ensures the effective relocation and calibration of equipment without incurring business interruption.
• Develops and agrees proposals and methodologies for the handling and relocation of lab equipment ranging from the equipment itself, Bench top IT, glassware and consumables.

The laboratory migration programme looks at:  

• Creating activity schedules detailing, hour by hour, laboratory movement schedules
• Vendor assisted equipment moves
• Moves of hazardous materials and controlled and/or radioactive substances to be moved
• Temperature controlled moves including freezer moves
• Science dependencies, work deadlines and key experiments
• Validation and calibration requirements
• Utility requirements for laboratory equipment.
• Special circumstances and health and safety concerns.
